EXPERIENCE AS A STUDENT ASSISTANT

My job as a student assistant in the OVPR has been one of greatest experiences I've had while at A&M. And this is mostly because of the people I work for! My bosses are kind and patient with me, willing to listen to my ideas and also give me a lot of responsibility. I have been able to work closely with different programs within the Division, especially the Council of Principal Investigators, where I help prepare for and manage meetings.

BALANCING SCHEDULES

It's tough to manage a part-time job with academic, social, and organizational requirements. Because of this, I usually only work around 12 hours a week. Although I do not work an inordinate amount, I attempt to be the best student assistant I can be, while I am at the office.

PROFICIENT IN MICROSOFT OFFICE

A rough guesstimate of 90% of my job is managing tasks on the computer. I am given the responsibility of helping maintain a 2,000+ name census on Microsoft Excel, so sometimes I believe I live and breathe Excel.

LEARNING FROM MISTAKES

While I've had many incredible experiences as a student assistant, I've had my fair share of mistakes, too. One time, my freshman year I jammed the giant paper shredder. Overall, I am learning quickly from my mistakes and my boss's graciousness towards me. I am learning how to be more attentive to detail and efficiently complete mundane tasks that are still important.
